Diploma In Contemplative Supervision

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Prerequisites

For those UKCP members applying this Course is designed to meet the HIPC, UKCP Supervision Requirement. We ask for the following prerequisite. Candidates should be at least 3 Years post-registration practice or have a minimum of 600 post-registration client hours. We welcome experienced colleagues such as other Psychotherapists, Counsellors, Psychiatrists and those working therapeutically with clients. UKCP members are eligible to apply for the HIPC of UKCP Directory of Recognised Supervisors. Everyone attending the Diploma accrues CPD (80 hours) for participation in this model of Contemplative Supervision developed at the Karuna Institute.

Course participants will be introduced to and practice key concepts of Contemplative Supervision. You will be asked to engage in Small Group Active Supervision, Case Presentation and Contemplative Practices. We will engage in collective enquiry into territories that will be drawn from principles of inclusion and diversity. Specialist speakers, including external supervisors, will be invited to engage in these territories.

The Training is held residentially at Karuna Dartmoor, offering us the opportunity to resource, eat good food, dance, walk on Dartmoor, look at the stars and enjoy the companionship of colleagues. It is a chance for us as a community to both deepen into the mystery and tap into our collective wisdom.

Course Assessment Requirements

A 3000 word Case Study, Supervisor Report, 40 hours of Supervision Practice, 20 hours of Supervision (10 from the Course), 1000 word Self Assessment.

Applications will be welcomed from UKCP practitioners with 3 years post-UKCP Accreditation or 600 hours of professional experience. Experienced colleagues from other professional bodies will be welcome to apply.

As the teaching team of Karuna Dartmoor we are committed to working towards creating a training community that is both inclusive and proactive in creating a culture in which students from marginalised and minority groups feel welcomed and valued. We recognise that our staff team is not nearly as representative as we would like, as is generally true of the psychotherapy profession. Our hope is that our training can be part of an active movement that can meet the needs of all members of our community and, equally important, train professionals who reflect the rich diversity of our society.

We have designed this professional training over three long residential weekends. This hopefully reduces client practice days lost.
